The Semantic Technology Institute Innsbruck (STI Innsbruck) at the University of Innsbruck (UIBK) is one of the leading groups working on the Semantic Web, Semantic Web Services and Service oriented Architectures in the world. Starting as a research group under the guidance of Prof. Dieter Fensel in 2003, it has officially been turned into a research institute at the University of Innsbruck as of January 2006. STI Innsbruck has broad international collaboration with many countries outside of Europe, such as United States, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and Singapore. The institute also aims to maintain a lively knowledge exchange with the local economy.
